How did we Start?

A Legacy That Began in 1967

The story of Medical Laboratory Training School Jinja began in 1967, when the institution was established as a training site for laboratory attendants for Jinja Hospital.

In 1976, the institution took an important step in the development of formal laboratory education by commencing training of Laboratory Assistants with an initial cohort of only 15 students.

From this modest beginning, the institution has continued to grow and contribute to the development of laboratory professionals serving Uganda’s healthcare sector.

Over the years, medical laboratory science has evolved significantly, with advances in technology, diagnostic methods, quality management and public health. Medical Laboratory Training School Jinja continues to provide training that responds to the professional demands of modern laboratory practice.
